DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Angel Golden scored a career-high 19 points, and
Kendra Cooper's jumper with six seconds remaining lifted Bethune-Cookman to a 52-50 victory over North Florida Thursday afternoon at the ICI Center.
North Florida tied the game on Simone Brown's jumper with 26 seconds to play. After Cooper hit her basket,
Kailyn Williams preserved the victory by blocking Brown's lay-up with two seconds to play.
Golden, a sophomore, connected on five three-pointers to help the Lady Wildcats (3-6) remain unbeaten at their home-away-from home while
Moore Gym is being renovated. Cooper and Williams each scored seven, and
Lyndsey Edwards left Bethune-Cookman with seven rebounds.
Brown led the Ospreys (6-6) with a game-high 22.
The Wildcats took a 10-9 lead lead on
Chasimmie Brown's lay-up at the first quarter buzzer, then built their lead to 27-22 at halftime and as big as 42-32
on
Armani Walker's three-point play with 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
North Florida rallied to take a 48-47 lead with 3:12 remaining on a Norris three-pointer, but Bethune-Cookman regained the lead when Williams finished a three-point play with 1:37 left.
Bethune-Cookman plays Tennessee State Monday at Stetson at 1 p.m..
