@BCUWBB Wins Big at SCSU for Fourth-Straight

ORANGEBURG, S.C.  – During their second-straight 20+ point victory, Bethune-Cookman women's basketball collected its fourth-straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) win to remain perfect in league play with a 64-34 victory over South Carolina State in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

At the first media timeout (4:12), the Wildcats led 12-9 after connecting on 4-for-7 shots from three.

The Bulldogs were held scoreless for the final four plus minutes of the first quarter, as BCU went up big after the first ten, 21-9.

An Ashanti Hunt steal and layup in the final three seconds of the second quarter gave the Wildcats a 42-15 lead heading into the locker room.

During the intermission Taylor Houston and Hunt each collected ten points, while Angel Golden trailed with six. The Wildcats shot 48.4 percent from the field while holding SCSU to 18.8% and 50.0% from three compared to the Bulldogs 12.5%.

Momentum stayed in BCU's favor after the break as the Wildcats held onto a 54-22 lead after thirty minutes of play.

Despite the Bulldogs outscoring the Wildcats 12-to-10 in the final stanza, BCU moved to 4-0 in MEAC play with a dominating 64-34 victory on the road.

Houston finished with a game-high 14 points, trailed by Hunt's 12 and Golden's and Kendra Cooper's eight each.

Defensively, Cooper led with eight boards while Hunt, Lyndsey Edwards and Chasimmie Brown all collected five and Kailyn Williams blocked six of the Wildcats 10 total shots blocked.

All 13 Wildcats saw action in the 30-point victory while 12 scored.

As a team, BCU shot 40.0% from the field holding the Bulldogs to 21.3% while finishing 37.0% from three.

Bethune-Cookman returns to action on Monday, Jan. 16 as the Wildcats travel to Tallahassee, Fla., facing Florida A&M at 4 p.m.
