TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman women's basketball earned its third-straight 20+ point win, after winning its third-straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game with a 64-41 victory over Florida A&M, Monday, Jan. 16 in Tallahassee, Florida.
Three ties and six lead changes later, the Wildcats and host Rattlers finished the first quarter knotted at 13.
During the second stanza media timeout, BCU went ahead seven holding the Rattlers scoreless in the quarter at the break.
A single foul shot for FAMU at the 3:11 mark in second was the only bucket the Rattlers saw before the half, as the Wildcats outscored FAMU 16-to-1 in the quarter.
At the intermission
Ashanti Hunt led all scorers with eight points and seven rebounds, trailed by
Kendra Cooper's seven points and
Taylor Houston's five.
FAMU used a 24-to-17 advantage in the third to close to gap with BCU, as the Wildcats held onto a 46-38 lead after three.
BCU held the Rattlers to single digits again in the fourth, outscoring FAMU 18-to-3, securing their fifth-straight win with a 64-41 victory.
Cooper led all scorers with 18 trailed by Hunt's 13 and Houston's eight.
On the defensive end, Hunt collected 11 board while
Kailyn Williams finished with 10 and two blocked shots.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 as Bethune-Cookman women's basketball hosts Maryland Eastern Shore for the first time in Moore Gym this season during a 2 p.m. tipoff in Daytona Beach, Fla.
