MIAMI – Alondra Bautista had 10 kills as Bethune-Cookman concluded its non-conference schedule with a 3-0 (25-13,25-23,25-19) loss to Florida International Tuesday evening.
Taji Thomas had 18 kills and hit .667 as the Panthers (4-14) snapped the Wildcat (10-12) two-match winning streak. Bethune-Cookman finishes its non-conference slate with a 3-12 mark.
Rakaya Neely finished with eight kills and two blocks for Bethune-Cookman, while
Jordan Jefferson and
Jai Chapman posted six and four kills, respectively.Â
Alana Handy had 18 digs and setter
Phalen Clark 30 assists.
The Wildcats turn their attention to Sunday's critical Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division match at Florida A&M. Bethune-Cookman is 7-0 in conference play while Florida A&M is 6-1 with its lone loss to the Wildcats on October 6. If the Wildcats win, they all but clinch the Southern Division's number one seed for the MEAC tournament November 17-19 at Maryland-Eastern Shore.
