@BCUhoops Fends Off Hampton 62-61

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Brandon Tabb scored 14 points as Bethune-Cookman held off Hampton 62-61 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Coach Cy Court in Historic Moore Gymnasium Saturday evening.

The Wildcats (6-20 overall, 3-9 MEAC) had a 60-54 lead on Diamante Lewis' free throw with 4:33 remaining and 62-56 on Quinton Forrest's lay-up with 3:43 to play, but Hampton (11-13,  closed to 62-61 with 1:18 left on two Devon Oakley free throws.

Bethune-Cookman made two defensive stops, but missed the front end of the one-and-one each time. Hampton had the final possession, but Bracey Lysander's three-pointer at the buzzer was off.

Lewis had 13 points and four assists, and Jeffrey Altidort 11 for the Wildcats, who led 36-30 at halftime after concluding the half with a 12-0 run. B-CU led the final nine minutes after pulling away from a 54-54 tie.

Lawrence Cooks had 17 points for Hampton.
