DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Brandon Tabb scored 22 points as Bethune-Cookman won its second straight and snapped Norfolk State's 10-game winning streak with a 75-65 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory on Coach Cy Court in Historic Moore Gymnasium Monday night.
After trailing 9-0, the Wildcats (7-20 overall, 4-9 in MEAC) came back to head into halftime with a 35-29 lead and extended their double-digits in the second half.
Bethune-Cookman took a 63-53 lead when
Quinton Forrest hit his third three-pointer with 5:28 to play. Tabb, a junior, gave the Wildcats their biggest lead at
67-55 with 1:54 remaining.
Norfolk State (14-14 overall, 11-3 MEAC) managed to cut it down to 67-60 with 1:20 remaining after Zaynah Robinson hit a layup.
Jeffrey Altidort,
Brandon Suggs, Tabb, and Forrest combined for the final seven Bethune-Cookman points from the free throw line to preserve the victory.
Forrest scored 16 and recorded four steals, Altidort added 12 points and six rebounds, meanwhile
Diamante Lewis had 10 points and seven assists.
Jordan Butler had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Norfolk State. Jonathan Wade, the MEAC's second-leading scorer at 19.9 ppg. was held to 10 points.
The Wildcats travel to face North Carolina Central Saturday.
