@BCUWBB Downs NCCU 57-47 To Go To 11-0 In MEAC

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Angel Golden scored 20 points and snagged a career-high eight rebounds as Bethune-Cookman held off a late North Carolina Central rally for a 57-47 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory Monday evening.

Ashanti Hunt added 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Lady Wildcats (19-4 overall, 11-0 MEAC) won their eleventh straight and 21st straight regular season conference game dating back to last season.

The Lady Wildcats led 48-29 on a Chasimmie Brown (eight points, 10 rebounds, five blocks) jumper with 9:51 remaining, but the Eagles (6-18,4-7) got as close as 53-47 on a Rodneysha Martin jumper with 34 seconds to play.

Golden, who has now scored 20 points or more in three consecutive games, and Hunt each sank two free throws in the final 30 seconds.

Lyndsey Edwards had six rebounds, four blocks and two steals for Bethune-Cookman, which held North Carolina Central to two free throws in the final 6:42 of the third quarter to take a 46-29 advantage.

The Lady Wildcats never trailed after a 13-0 run gave them a 15-6 advantage on two Hunt free throws early in the second quarter.

Paulina Afriyie led North Carolina Central with nine points.

Bethune-Cookman travels to Coppin State Saturday.
