WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Bethune-Cookman's trip to the Camel City Invitational last year was one
Donald Cooper would like to forget.Â
"We literally got ran out the building by the competition," Cooper said. "This was a better showing."
Three first-place finishes highlighted the Wildcats' trip to Winston-Salem with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships two weeks away.
Dominic Harper continued his ascent in the pole vault, freshman walkon Jamaz Richardson delivered a long jump victory and
Quamecha Morrison complemented her high jump victories with a season best in the 60 hurdles over the weekend.
Harper, the defending MEAC outdoor champion, set a B-CU indoor record with a vault of 15 feet, five inches for his second meet victory of the indoor season.
"Dominic has had a great surge of confidence," Positions we had been trying to get him in last year...he has now finally got it," Cooper said. "Still a lot more there. Very excited about where the ceiling is for this kid --Limitless."
Richardson posted a long jump of 23 feet, five and one-half inches for both his best of the season and the fourth best in the MEAC.
Morrison picked up the high jump win, clearing 5'8 on her final try while narrowly missing her personal best. She also ran a personal best in the 60 hurdles (8.55) that puts her in the top eighth in that event as well as the 200.
"She's getting hot at the right time," Cooper said of Morrison. "Our female team success heavily depends on her success."
