DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Matea Roki provided the deciding point for the second straight Wednesday as Bethune-Cookman downed Northern Illinois 4-3 at City Island Tennis Center.
After the match, it was learned that Roki and teammate Rehanna Butt were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player And Rookie Of The Week.
Roki downed NIU's Thisuri Molligoda 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to help the Lady Wildcats (3-5) win their third straight and second by a 4-3 margin. Roki also provided the final point in Saturday's victory over North Carolina Central.
Roki and Butt each won their third straight singles match and fifth as a doubles pair as Bethune-Cookman took the doubles point.
Phatismo Ruele set the stage for Roki when she won her No. 5 singles to tie the match at 3-3 after NIU (4-9) took leads of 2-1 and 3-2.

Karen Romero also won their doubles match, putting Vidal at 96 career victories.
Bethune-Cookman returns to action March 21 against Hofstra at 2 p.m. The Wildcat men start the doubleheader at noon.
