TAMPA – Jawill Davis wasn't the only Bethune-Cookman speed burner Friday.
Both the Wildcat men 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams took victories at the USF Invitational, along with
Quamecha Morrison in the high jump and
Xavier Walton in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
The 4X100 foursome of Randy Green,
Kareem Fair,
Jonathan Moore and
Jordan Williams clocked a 41.06 while the 4X400 squad of Caleb Okwaaraji,
Jordan Williams, Moore and
Christopher Jackson came at 3:11.82, the nation's 21
st best time so far this season.
"A good meet for us as we prepare for the Florida Relays next week, said B-CU Head Coach
Donald Cooper. "Good performances in the throws, sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps and relays. We are progressing all around. Staying healthy is our top priority as the performances are going to come."
Morrison returned to national prominence with her first outdoor appearance in the high jump. She cleared 5-10, the nation's fifth-best jump of the outdoor season.
In addition to the 4X100 victory, Fair had third place finishes in both the 100 and 200.
Walton rounded out the winners in the steeplechase with a time of 9:43.63
Also making national noise was Lea Tshikaya's 400 hurdles time of 1:00.35, the 20
th fastest, while
Jonina Brinson finished third in the high jump (5-8) with the No. 17 leap.
