MIAMI – Bethune-Cookman Head Coach
Donald Cooper wanted to test the resilience of some of his Wildcat tracksters Saturday at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational.
The results? A couple of wins, some more season best results and some outstanding efforts highlighted the team's  next-to-last regular season meet.
Jonathan Moore won the 400 with
Jordan Williams taking third, and
Xavier Walton and
Daniel Kiptoo finished 1-2 in the 3000 for the Wildcat victories.
Other top performers:
Monae Nichols' big weekend continued with a 40' 2 ¾" triple jump. On the men's side, Â
Joel Sampson  joined the 50 feet club with his third place performance.
Quamecha Morrison had her best 100 hurdles time of the season (13.64) in addition to a second place finish in the high jump.
Asia Joe had her best 400 time of the year (53.29).
Caleb Okwaraji impressed Cooper with his 51.55 in the 400 hurdles.
The women's 4X400 relay team of
Lea Tshikaya,
Tatyana Hodnett, Joe and Nichols clocked a season best 3:50.79.
"We took advantage of great competition again and the athletes did not disappoint," Cooper said. "Monae rolled her big weekend over to the triple jump and could have gotten more, but we shut her down after her first final jump. Caleb had a phenomenal run, Asia showed she's a force to be reckoned with in the 400, the throws had personal records.
It was a great meet," Cooper added. "Now to recuperate, get back in the lab and sharpen up for conference. Â Â Â
B-CU returns to action April 27 at North Florida.
