DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -The Lady Wildcats (8-10, 3-3 MEAC) look to bounce back just two days after the toughest defeat since falling to North Florida 56-55 in late November, returning to action fresh off the 62-57 overtime heartbreaker to Delaware State. Monday's target for B-CU's redemption is Maryland Eastern Shore (5-10, 1-3 MEAC), coming to historic Richard V. Moore Gymnasium riding a two-game losing streak. B-CU and UMES tip off at 5:30 p.m.

About the Maryland Eastern Shore Lady Hawks

UMES comes to Moore Gym a very similar team to B-CU, offensively anyway. The Lady Hawks average 55.8, keeping the scores low throughout the season, and much like B-CU have only allowed three opponents to break the 70-point mark in 15 games (B-CU has two in 18), and they have allowed seven opponents into the 60's (B-CU has eight). The Lady Hawks scoring margin sits at -6.1.

UMES surrenders 20.7 turnovers per game, the same as the Lady Wildcats, but opponents make 10.9 steals per game off the Lady Hawks (B-CU gives 9.1). Much like B-CU, they also hit the glass hard, averaging 41.1 RPG and outrebounding opponents +1.9 RPG.

While B-CU has a large batch of newcomers, UMES is just a plain young team, with two sophomores and two freshman expected to start in Daytona Beach, along with six more underclassmen on the roster.

One player has a significant command of several aspects of the UMES' game is senior guard/forward Karona Roach, who leads the team with a 14.2 PPG average. She is one of two threats for UMES from long range, shooting 39.3 percent from the arc for 1.6 threes per game. Roach also tops the Lady Hawks at the line, hitting 77 percent, tops the team in assists (2.5 APG) and steals (2.1 SPG).

Also providing a long-range challenge for B-CU is guard Shawnee Sweeney, who hits 1.6 threes per game (on 36.4 percent shooting) and 7.9 PPG, also hitting 72.2 percent from the free throw line. The guards will have their defensive work cut out for them, as UMES shoots nearly 17 threes per contest.

Rebounds leader Shanyce Stewart is not expected to start, and despite averaging 24 MPG, she has only seen nine minutes of action in the past two games. Stewart averages 7.9 RPG, followed by starting center Alexis Udoji (5.8 RPG) and Roach (5.0 RPG). Udoji averages 2.2 blocks per outing.

About the Lady Wildcats

Terrenisha Hollis has emerged as a major factor for the Lady Wildcats over the past five games, quickly nearing the team's number two scoring spot.  Over the past five contests, Hollis is averaging 12.1 PPG (9.1 season) and 7.8 RPG (5.3 season), in addition to 3.0 SPG and 1.8 BPG. Against DSU, she raced out to a career scoring effort of 22, 10 rebounds and six steals, collecting her second double-double.

Chastity René Taylor continues her consistent role as a scorer for the Lady Wildcats, averaging 14.9 PPG, and scoring in double figures in 14 games this season. She is also among B-CU's top free throw shooters, at 81.8 percent.

Amanda Hairston continues to hold the focus of opposing defenders and is a force on the glass with 6.9 RPG, 1.4 BPG, but has not been as much of a factor in the scoring mix of late. Facing a guard-based team like UMES may just grant her the opportunity to display her aggressive inside presence (9.2 PPG season).
