Men's Basketball Signs Taylor

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman men's basketball head coach Gravelle Craig has announced the signing of Maurice Taylor of Kilgore (Texas) College.

Taylor, a 6-3 guard, averaged 8.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists for Kilgore, who posted a 2012-13 overall record of 27-6, and advanced to the secondround of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament in March.

He played his high school ball for Libbey HS in Toledo, Ohio and will join fellow Toledo natives Tony Kynard and Clemmye Owens from Rogers HS on the Wildcats' 2013-2014 roster.

“Maurice is a really good basketball fit for our team,” Craig said. “He is an intangible guy who can play multiple positions offensively and guard multiple positions defensively. He is also character guy and a leader. Also, the fact that he played in one of the top JUCO  conferences in the country will help his transition to Division I.”

Bethune-Cookman posted a 14-20 record this past season, advancing to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament semifinals for the third consecutive year after upsetting regular season and defending tournament champion Norfolk State in the quarterfinals.
