DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A pair of former Bethune-Cookman Baseball student-athletes are on the move as
Nolan Santos continues his rise up the Minnesota Twins organization, and
Harold Baez is signing with the MLB Draft League.
Â
Nolan Santos has been called up to the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the High-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Santos spent the last season-and-a-half with the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels after completing his degree from Bethune-Cookman in May 2023. The right-hander from Miami Beach, Florida, owns a 2.39 ERA in 29 appearances across the early stages of the 2024 campaign, adding eight saves through 49 innings of work. He has gone on to post 62 strikeouts, while opponents are batting just .191 against him.
Â
"We are very proud of Nolan on his promotion to High-A and heading to Cedar Rapids," expressed
Jonathan Hernandez, Bethune-Cookman Baseball Head Coach. "Nolan enjoyed an outstanding last two months down in Fort Myers, and we are looking forward to tracking his journey with the Minnesota Twins organization. It is our belief that Nolan will continue to be an asset to the Twins as he continues his development."

The next game for the Kernels is July 23 away to the Quad Cities River Bandits. For a complete 2024 Cedar Rapids Kernels schedule, please click

Â
Harold Baez spent the 2024 season with Bethune-Cookman after transferring from Pittsburg State. Although he failed to see action during the 2024 campaign for the Wildcats due to injury, Baez has signed with the MLB Draft League, an organization created in 2021 by Major League Baseball and Prep Baseball Report. The league operates as an amateur collegiate summer baseball league to serve as a showcase for top draft-eligible prospects leading up to the MLB Draft.
Â
"I am ecstatic for Harold to be able to have an opportunity to pitch professionally in the MLB Draft League," continued Hernandez. "With all the adversity that Harold faced this past year, this is attributed to him trusting the process and continuing to work towards a goal he had in signing professionally. We are so proud of Harold, and we wish him nothing but the best as I have no doubts whatsoever that will represent the Maroon and Gold proudly as he ventures into the next journey of his athletic career."
Â
To date, the league consists of teams such as Frederick Keys, Mahoning Valley Scrappers, State College Spikes, Trenton Thunder, West Virginia Black Bears and Williamsport Crosscutters.
