Bethune-Cookman fought hard but eventually stumbled to the visiting Rams of Rhode Island University, 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the City Island Tennis Complex in Daytona Beach, Fla.
B-CU (3-8) looked good at the No. 1 position for the doubles point as the team of junior Andrea Paez defeated RIU's Nyssa Peele and Grace Hedstrom, 8-7 (3). It would not be enough, however, as the `Cats fell 2-1 to fall in the doubles point.
With RIU (8-4) on top 1-0 after the doubles point, they wasted little time sweeping all six singles matches for the 7-0 shutout.
B-CU got steady production from Musilova at the No. 1 position as she fell to the Rams' top player Peele on scores of 6-4, 6-2.
Sophomore Jeneice Ward also looked good for the Wildcats at the No. 3 position in a 6-1, 6-3 setback to Rhode Island's Hedstrom.
B-CU will get back out on the court again on Friday when they host conference opponent Norfolk State at the City Island Tennis Complex at 10 a.m. Admission is absolutely free to the public.
