DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Although the Lady Wildcats fell behind early, they bounced back and took control of the game, never looking back. B-CU dominated the second half to grab a huge win over the Bears of Morgan State, winning 83-78. Prior to the game, there appeared to be a large task before the Lady Wildcats, facing a strong conference opponent after recent tough home losses. However, this afternoon's game showed the Wildcats playing in form, much like they displayed early in the season.

After putting in the first points and keeping it tight early in the game, B-CU found themselves in a scoring slump. The Bears of Morgan State jumped out to a nine-point lead just five minutes into the game. However, the Lady Wildcats dug down deep and showed their resolve to climb back into the game. B-CU went on a 13-4 run, tying the game near the midpoint of the half. After taking the lead, the momentum swung in their favor and they never looked back. The Lady Wildcats led by as much as 8 in the first half, on the way to their best opening half of the 2008-2009 season; leading 41-37 at halftime.

Little changed in the momentum of the Lady Wildcat attack for the second half. B-CU extended the lead, pushing out to 12 near the midpoint of the second half. Every time the Bears started to rally, the Lady Wildcats pulled away and kept the pressure on. With two minutes remaining, the Bears had narrowed the gap and made it obvious that it was a battle to the finish for the Lady Wildcats. With :23 on the clock, the Bears had knocked the lead down to just one point, but put B-CU's top free throw shooter on the line, Jasmine Daniels. Daniels made the first shot, but got a bad bounce on the second. Jasmine Daniels, Jalisa Isaac, and Demetria Frank put in further crucial pairs of made free throws to seal up the game 83-78 as the final buzzer sounded.

Today's game was the highest point total for the Lady Wildcats on the season, and their first time over 80 points. It was a huge win, giving B-CU their first MEAC victory of the year, and their best mid-season record since 2003-04 under Coach Sandra Booker.

Jasmine Daniels and Sarah Bolden also chipped in 12 points each to round out the season-high five Lady Wildcats in double-figures.

The Lady Wildcats head out on the road now for two consecutive games, making trips to Delaware State on Jan. 24 and Maryland Eastern Shore on Jan. 26.
