DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - With last Tuesday's loss to the Savannah State Tigers still fresh in their minds, the Lady Wildcats faced off with the Tigers again Monday night in Moore Gymnasium. However, this time around, B-CU played more like itself and easily downed SSU, winning by a 15-point margin, 61-46.

While the last time out, the game centered on turnovers and who capitalized the most, tonight's game came down to who was hitting shots and getting the boards. The Lady Wildcats outrebounded SSU by 17, snagging a season-high 56 rebounds on the night. Despite only hitting 33% of their field goals, the Lady Wildcats held SSU to 29% and they only hit 24% in the first half.

Bethune-Cookman came through with the first score of the game, but SSU quickly tied it with 18:00 remaining in the second half. Following a Keturah Newkirk 3-pointer, B-CU went on a 10-0 run and distanced themselves from the Tigers. However, SSU came storming back to tie it at 10. From there, the Lady Wildcats took off and never looked back, making their next run a 15-3 run and going into halftime up by 13 with a score of 31-18.

B-CU came out firing in the second half and kept pace throughout the remainder of the game, taking the lead out to as much as 20, and fighting off rallies, only once letting the lead creep below double digits.

Euneshia Proctor led the way in scoring for the Lady Wildcats, finishing with 15 and tallying 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Not far behind, earning her second double-double of the year was Jasmine Daniels, who scored 10 points and grabbed 3 steals.

This game breaks a three-game losing streak for the Lady Wildcats and gets them back onto the winning track as they head into conference play. The victory also puts them to six wins, matching last season's total wins very early in the 2008-09 season. Up next for the Lady Wildcats, four consecutive home games versus conference foes, beginning 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, as the Lady Pirates of Hampton travel to Moore Gymnasium.
