DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -The Lady Owls of Kennesaw State brought the wood in today's double-header, downing the Lady Wildcats in both games. Although B-CU earned offensive opportunities in both games, KSU was strong defensively, and used a powerful offensive attack to put the Lady Wildcats away in both games, 11-3, 12-1.

Game One

Kennesaw State opened the game with a strong first inning, with heavy bats as they jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on four hits, including one grand slam before B-CU could finish them off. The Lady Wildcats responded, collecting three hits, and scoring two runs. B-CU scored first with a Simone Ceasar single through the right-side gap that pushed Ashton Hinds in from Second Base. B-CU put another score on the board with Simone Ceasar crossing Home Plate, while the hitter, Sabrina Ferguson was out at First. The Lady Wildcats finished up the inning down 5-2.

The Lady Owls kept B-CU quiet through the fourth inning, while scoring again in the second and fourth innings. In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Wildcats added another tally to the board, with Ashley Taylor scoring from Second on a Simone Ceasar single through the middle. B-CU finished the inning facing a deficit of 8-3 in favor of KSU.

KSU locked B-CU out of scoring again, but added three more runs on the scoreboard in the final inning to take an 11-3 lead which they would carry to the final out in the bottom of the seventh.

Ashley Taylor (.283) each got one hit apiece.

Game Two

In Game Two of the double-header, the game started with B-CU in better control of KSU's offensive attack, allowing four hits and three runs in the first two innings, however, the Lady Owls held the Lady Wildcats in check, keeping them scoreless until the third inning. In the top of the third, B-CU shut down KSU and notched their first run in the bottom of the inning. After stealing Second, Ashley Taylor crossed Home Plate for the first B-CU score on an Ashton Hinds double through the left side, to finish the inning with a score of 3-1 in favor of KSU.

B-CU held KSU scoreless again in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Owls responded, holding the Lady Wildcats scoreless through the conclusion of the game. However, in the fifth and sixth innings, KSU's bats became active again, reeling off run totals of four and five respectively to grab a 12-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, KSU held B-CU to one hit to close out the inning and the game, in the sixth inning.

Leading offensively in Game Two, Ashley Taylor (.283) both also came away with two hits apiece.

Allison Garcia (4-11) started and finished both of today's games on the pitching mound for B-CU, throwing 306 total pitches and facing 77 batters across the two games. Garcia recorded four strikeouts in the first game and five in the second, but allowed 18 Earned Runs in the two games, making her current season ERA 6.41.
