DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Lady Wildcats opened the series with Florida A&M this Saturday at Sunnyland Park. After a strong start, the Lady Rattlers of FAMU opened up offensively, first taking Game One by a narrow 2-1 margin, then closing out the Wildcats in five innings for Game Two, winning 10-2.

Game One

The Lady Wildcats started out solid, playing a strong defensive game. B-CU made the first strike, scoring once in the first inning. Lead-off batter, Ashton Hinds, got on base and stretched it to a triple with an error in the outfield. The next batter up, Simone Ceasar, hit a single to the Shortstop, which brought Hinds in from Third for the score, and taking a 1-0 lead. B-CU's lead would stand for the majority of the game.

In the top of the sixth, the Lady Rattlers caught fire and put two runs on the board after being held scoreless the rest of the game. FAMU claimed a 2-1 lead that they would carry into conclusion after holding the Wildcats off defensively in the sixth and seventh.

Liz Parrish (.179) also had a hit.

Allison Garcia (11-21) started and finished the game at Pitcher for B-CU, recording eight strikeouts, but allowing two Earned Runs, taking her season ERA 3.43.

Game Two

In the following game, B-CU faced a seemingly different team. The Lady Rattlers came out with heavy bats in Game Two, and shut down the Wildcats early. FAMU made the first strike, scoring one run in the opening inning. However, the Wildcats struck back, scoring one of their own as Allison Garcia hit a long double to Right Field, pushing Simone Ceasar across the plate to make the game 1-1.

In the top of the second, FAMU opened up and put four more runs on the board and taking a commanding 5-1 lead. They scored two more in the top of the third, but again the Wildcats responded with a Simone Ceasar single that batted Ashton Hinds Home to make the score 7-2. However, that was the last score for B-CU, as FAMU carried the momentum to three more scores in the fifth to seal the game, winning 10-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

Allison Garcia (.308) finished with one hit.

Chastity Sanders (4-7) started the game on the mound for B-CU, collecting two strikeouts, and taking her season ERA to 4.59.

The Wildcats (15-31) return to action tomorrow to finish out the series with FAMU, with the game starting at 12:00 pm. After FAMU, Jacksonville comes to Daytona Beach for the rescheduled game, and B-CU celebrates their lone senior on Senior Day, April 29.
