South Carolina State's one-two scoring punch of Jason Flager (17 points) and Brandon Smalls (14 points) was enough to beat the Wildcats Saturday night in MEAC Conference play. B-CU (15-14, 7-8 MEAC) shot only 30.8% in the game (16-52) and the Bulldogs out-scored B-CU 23-16 in the first half enroute to a 12-point home win.
C. J. Reed led B-CU scorers with nine points and hit only 2-14 field goals in the game. " C. J. is our catalyst and we need him to hit shots for us to be successful. He had some good looks and had some rim out and some tough breaks shooting. We will take Sunday off and have a short shoot around on Monday to get some rest and get ready for Monday night at Winston-Salem," said Coach Cliff Reed. "The effort was there, we didn't execute against their zone after preparing for it for three and a-half days," said Reed.
B-CU continues on the road Monday at Winston-Salem State and Thursday at FAMU to conclude the regular season.
