Tallahassee, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman women's tennis team fought hard to obtain three of six singles matches in the close 4-3 lose to MEAC and state rival - FAMU, Saturday on the road.
Shereen Peterson-Paul, freshman Wildcat , overcame Dean 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 position. Following Peterson-Paul's was a victory from senior Wildcat Eva Hankova. Hankova handled opponent Olagbegi in a tie-breaker 6-7(3), 6-3, 10-3 at No. 4.
Senior Jeneice Ward kept the Wildcat's wins rolling in singles play with the 5-7, 7-5, 10-4 score against B. Holt at No. 6. Unfortunately the wins were not enough for the Lady Wildcats to pull out a victory this time against the Lady Rattlers of Florida A&M University. FAMU won the doubles point to take the match 4-3.
The Wildcats jumped out with a lead in the doubles when sophomore Jeneice Ward defeated opponents Holt and Durden 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. FAMU won the other two doubles matches.
The Lady Wildcats team will host another match on Wednesday, April 7, Stetson University.
