ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Another Saturday and another dominating effort from Allison Garcia.
The senior threw a two-hitter and a three-hitter on the mound, and at the plate was a combined 5-6 with 5 RBI as Bethune-Cookman swept South Carolina State 10-1 and 9-1 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division doubleheader Saturday.
B-CU (17-22 overall, 5-0 conference) remained both undefeated in league play and in first place in the division with the sweep.
The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-1 lead after two innings in the opener. Garcia was 3-3 with 3 RBI, while Cesley Tafoya and Kelsey Rodney each drove in two runs.
In the second game, the Wildcats blew open a 2-1 game with a five-run fifth. Briana Leverett went 3-3 with 2 RBI from the ninth spot while Garcia had a triple and drove in two runs. Ashton Hinds scored twice and had two hits.
The series concludes Sunday at 12 p.m.
