Garcia Named Easton All-American

June 7, 2011

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman pitcher Allison Garcia was named to the 2011 Easton All-American 2nd team, it was announced today.

The former Wildcat, who led the program to consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships and two NCAA Regional appearances, was both B-CU's leading hitter and pitcher in 2011 with a .375 average, nine home runs and 56 RBI while compiling a 26-13 record with a 3.79 ERA and 135 strikeouts on the mound.

She ranked 50th in the nation in RBI per game (0.95), 21st in fewest walks allowed seven innings (1.29) and her 26 victories tied her for 26th for most wins in Division I.

Garcia was named the MEAC Pitcher of the Year last month.

“I'm proud of Allison and happy for her,” said B-CU coach Chris Cochran. “It's a great way to cap off a great four-year career.”

Garcia, who received her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, is currently coaching an area team and plans to begin work on her Master's in Social Work at the University of Denver.

“It feels great to receive this award,” Garcia said. “There are so many great players at the Division I level and it's an honor to be included among them.”

B-CU finished 33-26 in 2011, including a perfect 12-0 in conference play.
