SAVANNAH, Ga. – Jasmine Elum scored 14 points as Bethune-Cookman won its second straight and third in its last four with a 47-43 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Savannah State Monday night.
Elum scored seven points in the final 3:02 of the first half as the Wildcats (9-16 overall, 6-7 MEAC) opened up a 25-17 halftime lead. Savannah State (9-17,2-11) managed a 36-36 tie in the second, but B-CU regained the lead with a 7-1 run and held down the stretch.
Demetria Frank, Sharnese Neal and Amanda Hairston (11 rebounds) each scored seven for B-CU, which posted its best defensive effort of the season.
The Wildcats moved into a three-way tie with South Carolina State and UMES for sixth place in the conference standings with three games remaining.
