Women's Tennis Registers A Weekend Split

Feb. 6, 2012

Final Stats

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman women's team registered a split of last weekend's road matches, defeated Webber International 9-0 before falling 6-1 at Florida Gulf Coast.

Chinatsu Kajiwara won both her singles matches and one double match as B-CU swept Webber for its second straight win on Saturday. She's now 3-1 on the season."

"Each person played to expectations and took care of their court against Webber," said B-CU Coach Tim Pleasant. " We wanted work on a few key areas in this match that we didn't do in last week's matches. I believe we accomplished our goal and eliminating the errors on first strikes of the ball. If the ladies keep improving in this area, then the more solid we will be in March and April."

The FGCU score was closer than it seems, with the doubles point coming down to a tiebreaker and four of the six singles matches decided by tiebreaker or third set.

"With a couple of points here and there, we could have won this match," Pleasant said. "Each match I feel that we are growing more and more confident." B-CU travels to Jacksonville Wednesday.
