B-CU Raps NCCU 10-2 Behind Engram, Rodney

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Shamaria Engram and Kelsey Rodney each homered and drove in three runs as Bethune-Cookman (15-21,1-0) downed North Carolina Central (3-29,0-1) 10-2 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division game Saturday at Sunnyland Park.

Game two was called due to lightning. The three-game series will be completed with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday.

B-CU scored in all five innings to register the run-rule decision. Engram's homer was a two-run shot in the second while Rodney went yard in the fourth to start a five-run Wildcat rally.

Leadoff hitter Michelle Banuelos-Smith reached on error.

Banuelos-Smith was 2-4 with two RBI for the Wildcats, who saw all nine batters reach base and eight register a hit. Shanel Tolbert picked up the victory with a two-hitter.
