ORLANDO -- UCF broke open a 1-1 tie with a four-run third as the Knights downed Bethune-Cookman 5-1 Wednesday.
B-CU (21-23) tied the game in the second when Sabrina Ferguson led off with a single and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
UCF (31-12) pulled away the next inning by stringing together four RBI singles.
Ferguson had two of B-CU's four hits and also threw two UCF runners out on steal attempts. Kelsey Rodney and Karina Romero registered the other Wildcat hits.
B-CU returns to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at North Carolina A&T.
