ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Aurelia Gamch and Kelsey Rodney each had three RBI, with five of those coming in a 10-run fifth inning as Bethune-Cookman defeated South Carolina State 13-0 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division game Saturday.
The Wildcats (20-21 overall, 6-0 MEAC) concluded the three-game sweep of the Lady Bulldogs (11-21,0-6) for their 14th victory in the last 15 games and 21st consecutive conference regular season win dating back to 2010.
Gamch's RBI single started the ten-run outburst and she later added a two-run single. Rodney, who homered for B-CU's first run in the second, also had a two-run single.
Sabrina Ferguson and Karina Romero each went 2-3 with two RBI for B-CU, while
Michelle Banuelos-Smith was 2-3 with one RBI. Shanel Tolbert threw a two-hitter for her second shutout of the series as well as her 20th win of the year.
B-CU hosts North Florida for a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m. in Sunnyland Park.
