LOS ANGELES - Bethune-Cookman dropped a doubleheader to Loyola Marymount Tuesday afternoon during its California swing.

The Lions (13-11) took the first game 5-4 in nine innings then claimed a 7-1 decision in the night cap.

Shamaria Engram gave the Wildcats (3-19) a 2-0 second inning lead with a two-run homer to left, but the Lions answered with two runs in the second and another in the third for a 3-2 lead.

Michelle Banuelos-Smith tied the game in the fourth when she scored on a passed ball.

Kelsey Rodney led off the sixth with a double and scored on Melissa Berouty's single to tie the game 4-4 in the sixth.

In the second game, B-CU registered 10 hits - three by Aurelia Gamch and two each from Simone Ceasar, Engram and Sophia Ortega - but managed just one run when Gamch drove home in Engram in the fifth.

B-CU's six-game road trip concludes Wednesday at UC-Riverside.
