UPDATE: Bethune-Cookman will face Coppin State in the MEAC tournament Tuesday at 4 p.m.
BALTIMORE -- Bethune-Cookman ended its 2012-13 regular
season Thursday with a 69-61 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference loss to Coppin
State.
Michael Murray had 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists
as the Eagles (8-23, 5-11 MEAC) won for the third time in their last four outings
after a seven-game skid.
Bethune-Cookman finishes the regular season 12-19 overall
and 7-9 in league play. The Wildcats will enter next week's conference
tournament as the eighth seed.
Kevin Dukes led Bethune-Cookman with 18 points, hitting 4 of 12 from deep to
win the MEAC 3-point title, while Adrien Coleman, with 15 points, won the
league scoring title.
Javoris Bryant added 12 points and 11 rebounds for his
second double-double in as many games.
Trailing 63-53, the Wildcats stormed back with Dukes hitting
consecutive 3-pointers in a 23-second span to trim the deficit to four with
1:05 remaining. Coppin State made six of six free throws in the final 35
seconds to seal it.
Andre Armstrong added 15 points and Collin Johnson 14 for
the Eagles, who led by nine in the first half and 16 in the second.
