JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Calesha Shelley had two hits and Shamaria Engram homered for Bethune-Cookman in its 4-2 loss to North Florida Wednesday evening.
The Wildcats (11-29) took a 1-0 first inning lead when Shelley led off with a single, stole second and scored on a throwing error but the Ospreys (30-11) answered with a three-run homer by Mariah Reynolds in the bottom half of the inning.
North Florida upped its lead to 4-1 in the fourth before Engram's leadoff homer to left in the fifth. It was Engram's second home run of the season.
Kelsey Rodney accounted for the Wildcats' other hit with a sixth-inning double.
Shanel Tolbert took the loss, giving up six hits while walking three and striking out four.
The Wildcats host UCF next Wednesday.
