DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – South Carolina State swept Bethune-Cookman in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matches Friday at City Island Courts. The Bulldog men took a 4-1 decision and the women won 4-1 as well.

The victories gave the Lady Bulldogs (13-4 overall,6-0 MEAC) the No. 1 seed and the Bulldog men (11-3,3-1) the No. 2 seed from the Southern Division at next week's conference tournament in Raleigh, N.C.

Both Bethune-Cookman squads will take on Florida A&M Saturday for the respective third seeds.

In the women's contest,  Shereen Peterson-Paul won the singles points for the Lady Wildcats, now 13-10 overall and 3-2 in MEAC play.

Santiago Lobelo registered the only point for the Wildcat men, now 12-14 and 1-2.

Saturday's matches start at 10 a.m.
