DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Clemmye Owens scored 14 points in Bethune-Cookman's 64-49 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference loss to North Carolina Central Monday night.
Jay Copeland scored 16 points and Alfonzo Houston had 15 to lead North Carolina Central
(9-5, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Reggie Groves scored 10 points and Emanuel Chapman had eight assists.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and held a 16-10 advantage at the 8:12 mark of the first half. They extended that to 35-23 at the half.
Owens hit a three to start the second half, but the Eagles went on a 16-3 run to take a 51-29 advantage with 12:31 remaining in the game.
Mikel Trapp had eight points and Barry Smith seven for the Wildcats, now 2-17 overall and 0-4 in MEAC play.
B-CU travels to Savannah State Saturday.
