LOS ANGELES -- Bethune-Cookman's West Coast swing began with a 9-4 loss to Harvard Wednesday in the Loyola-Marymount Invitational.
Harvard (7-4) jumped out to a 9-0 lead as pitcher Morgan Groom retired the first 12 Wildcat batters she faced.
Bethune-Cookman (9-18) came alive in the sixth when Kelsey Rodney doubled home Destinee Williams and Calesha Shelley, then scored when Kaitlin Alamprese smacked her third home run of the season.
Rodney and Williams each had two hits on the day.
B-CU faces Canisius Thursday at 2 p.m. EST (11 a.m. PST) and host Loyola-Marymount at 6 p.m. EST (3 p.m. PST).
