LOS ANGELES – Melissa Berouty had four hits, and Bethune-Cookman scored four runs in the eighth to close its California trip with a 6-2 win over UC-Riverside Friday.
The Wildcats (11-20) finished the Loyola Marymount Invitational with a 1-4 record.
UC-Riverside (18-13) tied the game with a two-run homer in the sixth.
In the eighth, Calesha Shelley scored on a Kaitlin Alamprese single. Alamprese and Kelsey Rodney scored on error, than Breanna Chavez singled home Chavez to make it a 6-2 game.
Sabrina Anguiano retired the side in order in the eighth for the victory.
Alamprese and Rodney each had two hits for the Wildcats in the victory.
Berouty hit .667 (6-9) during the tournament while Rodney hit .389 (7-18) with three RBI.

Bethune-Cookman took a 2-0 lead in the third when Destinee Williams scored on a single by Rodney, who scored on a Bailey Conner single. The host Lions tied the game in the fourth and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth.
CANISIUS 3, B-CU 0
Anguiano threw seven shutouts innings before Canisius scored three in the eighth. The Wildcats loaded the bases in the sixth but could not capitalize.
ALAMPRESE RECOGNIZED BY MEAC
Alamprese was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of February 24-March 2. She drove in nine and batted .333 against Mount Saint Mary's, Eastern Michigan, Long Island, Michigan State and Hofstra. Alamprese belted a game-winning grand slam to lift the Wildcats past Michigan State, 6-3.
