@CatsTennis Match Day: #46 Arkansas

JACKSONVILLE – Bethune-Cookman faces nationally-ranked Arkansas (#46) Tuesday at 2: 30 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.

The match marks the first time the Lady Wildcats have met a nationally-ranked team under Head Coach Tim Pleasant as well as well as the first time B-CU has met a Southeastern Conference team since the 2001 squad took on Florida in the NCAA Regionals.

ABOUT ARKANSAS: The Razorbacks (10-10 overall, 2-6 SEC) have played one of the nation's toughest schedules, facing 17 teams that have been or are currently ranked in ITA national rankings. Shannon Hudson is 10-5 in singles, with all but one match at No. 2 singles.  Oleksandra Shkorupeieva is 9-6 in both singles and doubles play.

B-CU UPDATE: The Lady Wildcats (15-8 overall, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) had their 12-match winning streak stopped last week in a close 4-3 loss to Stonybrook in Melbourne. The run was the longest since the 1999 team won 17 in a row en route to the NCAA tournament. Three individual streaks are still alive – senior Elizabeth Nyenwe (18-4) has won 15 straight while Mina Matsuba (18-4) and Chintasu Kajiwara (12-4) each have won 11 in a row. The doubles combo of Matsuba and Maria Sablina have won nine of their last 10.
