DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bailey Conner threw two shutouts as Bethune-Cookman downed North Carolina Central 1-0, 1-0 Sunday in a Mid-Easten Athletic Conference Southern Division doubleheader at Sunnyland Park.
The freshman threw a two-hitter in the opener, walking two and striking out five. In the second game, she scattered six hits and struck out three with no walks. She now has four shutouts on the season.
The Wildcats (12-22 overall, 2-0 MEAC) committed no errors and only allowed one Eagle (4-22,0-2) base runner to make it to third base.
Calesha Shelley scored Bethune-Cookman's run in the first game, leading off with a walk, stealing second and scoring on a Kaitlin Alamprese single. Conner had two hits in the game.
Melissa Berouty had the Wildcats' lone hit in the second game and scored the game's only run on a wild pitch in the second inning.
The teams conclude the series Monday at noon.
