ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Bethune-Cookman dropped a 3-2 decision in eight innings to South Carolina State Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats (15-23,5-1 MEAC) had a five-game winning streak snapped. South Carolina State improved to 8-20 and 1-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division.
Destinee Williams had two hits and scored both Wildcat runs, including the tying run in the seventh after she hit a two-out triple and scored on Calesha Shelley's single.
Williams scored B-CU's first run in the third, leading off with a single, stealing second and scoring on Kelsey Rodney's single.
Bailey Conner and Melissa Berouty also had hits for the Wildcats.
B-CU hosts North Florida in a non-conference double header Wednesday at Sunnyland Park. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
