ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman got off to a strong start, but Florida A&M finished its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament run with a 4-2 victory Saturday  afternoon.

Kelsey Rodney's two-run homer gave the Wildcats (25-31) a first inning lead, but the Rattlers (24-28) answered with a four-run second.

Mies McBride led off with a solo home run, then Alyssa Weaver drove in two runs with a single and Christina Robbs doubled home a run to give the Rattlers a two-run lead.

The Wildcats had one scoring threat in the sixth when Bailey Conner led off with a single, then Sophia Ortega and Sabrina Anguiano drew walks to load the bases with one out, but FAMU's Ashleigh Minter relieved Kenya Pereira and got the final two outs.

Pereira, the tournament MVP, scattered seven hits and struck out five for her fourth win of the weekend.

Calesha Shelley, who scored B-CU's first run, had two hits, along with Melissa Berouty.

Shelley, Rodney and pitcher Sabrina Anguiano were named to the all-tournament team.

Shelley hit .538 and stole six bases for the Wildcats in their five tournament games. Rodney drove in a team-high seven runs and hit .467 with an .800 slugging percentage. Anguiano pitched in four games, compiling a 2-1 record with a 2.30 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
