Box Score RICHMOND, Va. – Jordan Potts reached 20 points for the second straight time, but Richmond downed Bethune-Cookman 89-64 in a Continental Tires Las Vegas Invitational game Saturday before 5,625 at the Robins Center.
Terry Allen posted a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds as the Spiders (3-1) scored the first 10 points – eight by ShawnDre' Jones -- and led the entire contest.
Bethune-Cookman (2-1) played the Atlantic 10 power evenly until the Spiders for 25 minutes, getting within single digits at 50-41 on a Josue Salaam lay-up with 15:11 remaining.
Three minutes later, Richmond pulled away with a 14-0 run spurred by Allen getting a loose ball rebound and sinking a three with the shot clock winding down. The spurt gave the Spiders a 67-44 advantage with 10:04 left.
Potts finished 6-16 from the field with three from behind the arc. He had 25 in Monday's win at Tennessee-Martin.
Mario Moody was the only other Wildcat in double figures with 12 points in addition to seven rebounds. Diamante Lewis scored eight in his first appearance of the season, as did Randy Holmes.
Bethune-Cookman travels to West Virginia for a Monday night match-up at 7 p.m.
