Box Score PHOENIX – Mario Moody scored 15 points in Bethune-Cookman's 74-53 loss at Grand Canyon Sunday night.
Grandy Glaze scored 20 points and snagged eight rebounds as the 'Lopes (13-2) won their sixth straight while handing the Wildcats (4-11) their seventh consecutive defeat.
Ricky Johnson scored eight of his 11 points in the opening four minutes of the second half as Bethune-Cookman got within 42-32, but the 'Lopes pulled away to a 64-41 advantage with 6:26 left.
Consecutive three-pointers from Johnson and Jordan Potts gave the Wildcats an early 8-6 lead four minutes into the game, and a Moody lay-up made it 10-8 Wildcats with 14:36 left. After that, Grand Canyon went on an 18-2 run, and led 36-22 at halftime.
Moody was 6-10 from the field and also had eight rebounds.
Dominic McGee scored 13 points and Joshua Braun 12 for Grand Canyon, coached by former NBA All-Star Dan Majerle.
B-CU continues its seven-game road trip next weekend as it resumes Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with key games at Hampton Saturday and Norfolk State next Monday.
