@BCUHoops Falls To NMSU Despite Tabb's 26

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Brandon Tabb scored 26 points in Bethune-Cookman's 89-73 loss to New Mexico State Sunday evening at the Pan American Center.

Tabb, a junior, reached 20 points for the second straight night. He had 10 of the Wildcats' first 13 points, including a 4-point play as the Wildcat (2-2) took an early 13-6 advantage.

New Mexico State (3-2) regained the lead at 24-23 on a Jemerrio Jones traditional three-point play with 8:02 remaining in the first half, then used a 20-2 run to pull away to a 50-29 halftime lead.

Tabb went 5-5 in the second half, and Bethune-Cookman shot 55.6 percent (15-27) from the field down the stretch, but couldn't close the gap.

Braxton Huggins scored 28 points with 5 of 6 3-pointers to lead the Aggies. He scored 17 first-half points. Sidy N'Dir scored 26 points and had four assists for the Aggies (3-2), who finished shooting 58 percent from the floor (26 of 45).

Diamante Lewis came off the bench to score 19 for the Wildcats. Reggie Baker scored seven, and Jeffrey Altidort had six points and five assists.

The Wildcats' San Diego Classic travels continue Tuesday at USD. Game time is 10 p.m. EST, 7 p.m. local.

HEAD COACH GRAVELLE CRAIG

"We played hard, but we didn't play smart at times. We let them get in the bonus early and gave up those 10-0 runs."

"Jeffrey got in foul trouble and that hurt. I have to do a better job of preparing a back-up point guard."

 "Brandon's been a consistent scorer. He has to get better in different areas defensively."

"It was good to see Diamante come around and play like he did tonight. We're on track."
