DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman looks to create its second three-game winning streak Wednesday when the Lady Wildcats host Southern at 5:30 p.m. in Historic Moore Gym.

The Lady Wildcats (5-2) have downed Grand Canyon and Palm Beach Atlantic on this current run that started after consecutive losses to SE Louisiana and North Florida. This is the third game of a four-game home stand that wraps up Sunday against Jacksonville.

Southern (1-5) dropped a 69-65 decision at Southern Alabama. The Jaguars' losses are at the hands of Power 5 schools including Indiana, Auburn, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin, which fended off Southern for a 77-74 decision.

Bethune-Cookman is 7-6 lifetime against the SWAC, including 2-2 against Southern.

B-CU UPDATE:  The Lady Wildcats  lead the MEAC in team scoring at 72.3 ppg but only have one player (Angel Golden at 9th) in the individual top 10… B-CU also leads the MEAC in assists (16.3 per game, rebound margin (7.3),  3FG and 3FG% (6.3 per game and 34.4 percent) and scoring margin (+13.9) … A win Wednesday would surpass last season's non-conference total of five wins … Ashanti Hunt is fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in rebounding (8.6) and second in assists (4.3)…Briana Hardee has scored double figures in the last three games … Golden was 1-10 from 3FG the previous two games before going 4-8 Sunday against Palm Beach Atlantic … Chasimmie Brown has shot 50 percent or better from the field in 5 of 6 games this season.

ABOUT SOUTHERN: The Jaguars are averaging 64.5 ppg and giving up 70.5 …Their 77.8 FT percentage leads the SWAC …Samantha Duncan leads the scoring at 12.6 ppg clip, followed by Sarai Blissett (11.0) and Briana Green (10.8) …Blissett is shooting 50 percent from the field … Duncan dropped 22 and Blissett 21 Monday at South Alabama … Southern fell to Grambling in last year's SWAC semifinals.
