LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman opened play at the Disney Diamond 9 Orange Blossom Classic with two losses Friday.
The Wildcats (1-6) dropped a 3-1 decision to Delaware and then fell 10-2 to Marshall.
The Wildcats resume play Saturday at 12 noon against Stetson and 2:15 against George Washington. Game times have been moved up an hour in response to expected inclement weather moving into the area.
GAME ONE
Delaware (1-5) jumped out to a 2-0 first inning and held the Wildcats to two hits en route to a 3-1 victory.
In the second inning,
Bryanna Campos brought home
Taylor Sherritt with a fielder's choice, but that would prove to be Bethune-Cookman's only run of the contest.
Destiny Enriquez went the distance in the circle, walking two and striking out three.
GAME TWO
Marshall (5-2) got out of a bases-loaded jam, than scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away to a 10-2 victory.
Bethune-Cookman closed to 3-2 in the third when Jackie Smith scored on an error and
Annie Bakenhus scored on
Mariah Davis' double.
Davis had two hits in the game.
Brianna Sanders and
Kaitlin Alamprese also had hits.
