@BCUsoftball Travels To Second-Ranked Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman makes its first trip to the home of Steve Spurrier and Tim Tebow since 2011 when the Wildcats meet second-ranked Florida at 6 p.m Wednesday at Pressly Stadium.

B-CU (12-23) last played in Gainesville at the NCAA Regionals that year, falling to the Gators and Jacksonville.  The Wildcats have also played in Gainesville hosted regionals in 2010 and 2005.

SPEAKING OF 2005: Wednesday's game is B-CU Head Coach Laura Watten's first trip back to Gainesville since leading the Wildcats to that 2005 Regional Championship in which the Wildcats downed the host Gators for the second time that year and USF for title and a berth in the NCAA Super Regionals against, where they took Olympian Cat Osterman to nine innings before falling 1-0 in the opener, than dropped a 6-1 decision in the second game.

Watten left Bethune-Cookman for Maryland after that season, but returned here in 2015. This is her 11th season at B-CU (20th overall) and her record is 654-516 overall and 374-288 at B-CU with five Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships and six NCAA tournament appearances. At B-CU, Watten has had success against the SEC with wins against Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina.

CLIMBING: After a 1-18 start, the Wildcats have won 11 out of their last 15, including a three-game sweep of Savannah State over the weekend to start MEAC league play. The early non-conference schedule included North Carolina State, Stanford, LSU, Stanford, Michigan, Texas, Illinois and Ohio State.

IN THE CIRCLE: Sabrina Aguiano is a senior from Hacienda Heights, Ca. She's won her last four starts and six of her last seven after dropping her first five decisions. Career-wise, she's 49-65 with 365 strikeouts. She was the 2015 MEAC pitcher of the year.

ACTION JACKSON: Ryan Jackson is no relation to former Wildcat Amber Jackson, a member of that 2005 regional champion and now Head Coach at Delaware State, but has similar. If she maintains her .818 slugging percentage, it would break Amber Jackson's 2003 school record mark of .812. Ryan Jackson's 9 HR and 34 RBI lead the MEAC and are 18th in the nation; her .455 average is 25th in the nation and her total bases (81) rank her seventh.

BASEPATHS: Senior Kaitlin Alamprese cracked the top ten all-time list with her 10th career homer against Illinois … she has 89 career RBI…Mariah Davis has scored 14 runs in the last 8 games and leads the Wildcats with 31 … Sophomore Brianna Davis has a career-high 5 RBI in the second game of the Savannah State series.

ABOUT THE GATORS: Florida (29-2) dropped the final game of its series with Auburn Monday. The Gators won back-to-back national championships in 2014 and 2015 .. Four All-Americans -- Delanie Gourley, Aleshia Ocasio, Kaylie Kvistad and national freshman of the year Amanda Lorenz are back from last year's team.
