'Cats 6-5 Win Sets Stage For Sunday Finale To Determine No. 1 Tourney Seed

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman salvaged a split of Saturday's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader with archrival Florida A&M and set the stage for Sunday's 12 p.m. series finale to determine the No. 1 seed from the Southern Division for the MEAC tournament.

Kailey Richards' two-out walk off RBI single scored Mariah Davis gave the Wildcats (21-28 overall, 11-3 MEAC) a 6-5 night victory after Florida A&M (17-27-1, 12-2) won the opener 9-5 and rallied from a 5-0 deficit to tie the second game in the seventh.
Bethune-Cookman had jumped out to a five-run lead after two innings on the strength of Brianna Sanders' solo home runs and the Wildcats parlaying six early Rattler errors into four unearned runs.

Davis and Iesha Waters scored in the first to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

After Sanders' leadoff home run, Yvonne Siorda and Jacki Smith plated to make it a 5-0 game.

Davis led off the seventh with an infield singles, then advanced to second on Ryan Jackson's long flyout to left to set the state for Richard's game winner.

In the opener, Bethune-Cookman cut a 5-0 deficit to 5-2 when Davis tripled homed pinch runner Sasha Killings and scored on Annie Bakenhus' single, then 6-4 in the fourth on Kaitlin Alamprese's 13th career home run, a two-run that also scored Richard.

Jackson singled home Bakenhus in the fifth for the final Bethune-Cookman run in the opener.

Sunday is Senior Day, with Alamprese, Sabrina Anguiano, Bryanna Campos and Bailey Conner being honored in pre-game ceremonies.
