DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman begins its run for another ring in full force Wednesday when the two-time regular season champion Lady Wildcats host South Carolina State in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams at 5:30 p.m. in Historic Moore Gym.
The Lady Wildcats (8-4) are 27-5 in league play over the past two seasons, including last year's 15-1 campaign. B-CU won last year's meeting 64-34.
After this, B-CU goes on the road for conference games at Howard Saturday and Maryland-Eastern Shore Monday.
EVEN THOUGH WE'RE ALL 0-0: B-CU had the MEAC's best non-conference record this season at 8-4, ahead of Norfolk State (7-5) and Morgan State (7-6).
THE STREAKS: The Lady Wildcats have won 10 ten consecutive league games, five in Moore Gym. The consecutive games with a three-pointer is now 134 dating back to 2013.
STATS AND STUFF: The Lady Wildcats lead the MEAC in scoring offense (66.3), FG% (40.6), 3FG (33.8), rebounding margin (+3.8) and assists (14.3) …
Angel Golden is sixth in scoring (13.3),
Ashanti Hunt third in rebounding (8.2) and Brianna Hardee fifth in FG% (47.6) … Chasimme Brown has a MEAC-best three double-doubles.
ABOUT SCSU: The Bulldogs (5-7) registered wins against Winthrop, Charleston Southern and Western Carolina, but have lost three of their last four … Bryeasha Blair is averaging 12.6 ppg, followed by Kemoni Jenkins (10.4) and Kyesha Lewis (10.1) … Jasmine Williams is averaging 7.3 rebounds.
