DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Angel Golden scored 18 points, and Deltona's
Chasimmie Brown posted a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double as Bethune-Cookman downed Edward Waters 73-46 in its season opener Wednesday night.
Amaya Scott added a career-high 12 rebounds as the Lady Wildcats scored the first 10 points and stayed in control after that. Edward Waters was held to 11.1 percent shooting from the field in the opening quarter, but a late shooting slump kept BCU's lead at 19-8 entering the second.
Golden had 14 first-half points as Bethune-Cookman took a 42-25 halftime lead.
Lady Wildcat newcomers had their moments.
Kindell Fincher sank a pair of three pointers and finished nine points,
Kiana Williams had seven points and
Camary Harris five.
Atlantic's Shakawana Brown led Edward Waters with 9 points.
Bethune-Cookman hosts Liberty Friday at 7 p.m.
