CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Bethune-Cookman wraps up its 2018-19 non-conference schedule Friday when the Lady Wildcats meet Charlotte in Halton Arena Friday at 7 p.m.
The Lady Wildcats (7-4) are in the middle of a six-game road swing. After this, BCU starts its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference slate with road games at North Carolina Central, Howard and Norfolk State beginning next week.
BCU is looking to match its program-best non-conference record of next year while avoid its first two-game skid in regular games since dropping consecutive games to Southeast Louisiana and North Florida last year.
This is the first meeting between BCU and Charlotte, a Conference USA member.
BCU UPDATE:
Angel Golden passed Sarah Bolden for 10th on the all-time scoring last week against Georgia State. The senior now has 1,051 career points. Next up: Lauren Forsthoff (2001-2004) with 1,094…Golden's also within striking distance of Keturah Newkirk's second all-time total of 201 three-pointers. The senior needs 15… Golden's second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring (20.3 ppg) and 22nd in the nation while leading the MEAC in FT% (83.3) … Chas Brown leads the MEAC in FG% (55.1) and is eighth in rebounding (6.9 rpg) and sixth in blocks (1.4 pg) … BCU looking to bounce back from its third lowest offensive output of the season in that 62-57 loss at Georgia State; the low is 39 to USF.
ABOUT CHARLOTTE: The 49ers, like BCU have been off since Dec. 21. The 49ers (7-3) beat Davidson 78-66….Jade Phillips leads the scoring at 14.2 ppg and rebounding at 5.9 rpg, followed by Laia Raventós at 11.4 ppg … Mariah Linney has scored 22 points in each of the last two games.
