The Starting Five
1 Entering this weekend, BCU leads the MEAC in total rebounds (41.62) and blocks (99), and is second in offensive rebounds (13.88), and scoring offense (79.6). Amongst the NCAA, it is fifth in total rebounds, ninth in offensive boards, 64th in scoring offense, and 112th in blocks
2 Brandon Tabb is only 11 points away from becoming BCU's 30th all-time 1,000-point scorer. The last Wildcat to join the exclusive club was Ricky Johnson, who finished his BCU career in 2016 with 1,161 points
3 The 8-3 conference record marks BCU's best 11-game MEAC start since the 2012 season, when the Wildcats went 11-5
4 Tabb ranks in the MEAC's top 4 in four three-point statistical categories- 3ptFGA (227), 3ptFGM (77), 3ptFG per-game (3.21), and 3ptFG % (33.9%)
5 BCU's triumph against NCCU marked the second-straight season the wildcats have knocked off the defending conference tournament champ as BCU took down Hampton last season. The 18-point win also gave the Eagles their worst regular season conference loss in six years
Previously
Brandon Tabb scored 25 points and was one of four Wildcats in double-figures as Bethune-Cookman stomped North Carolina Central, 99-81, Monday evening at Historic Moore Gymnasium. BCU (14-12, 8-3) shot 51.5% from the field (35-61) and snapped a two-game losing streak in the series to NCCU (12-13, 6-5), and ended a four-game home stand with three wins.
Davis Add Another Honor
Forward Shawntrez Davis was named this week's MEAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Davis averaged nine rebounds and 2.5 blocks as the Wildcats finished with a 2-0 mark. Versus Maryland Eastern Shore, Davis grabbed 11 rebounds with a blocked shot and returned to the court on Monday with a nine-rebound, four-block performance versus North Carolina Central.
